Chelsea Handler Makes Dog Food to Save Dogs

Chelsea-Handler-dog-for-dogWe love Chelsea Handler over here at Dogsized. On July 18, 2013, Snoop Dog/Snoop Lion and Chelsea Handler announced on Chelsea Lately that they’re creating a new dog food that is also edible for humans (Chelsea demonstrates).

For each bag of dog food sold, they’ll donate one to a dog shelter which helps to save dogs lives. What a great initiative! The brand is Dog for Dog.

Update: March 13, 2014, Dog for Dog won New Products Showcase Awards – Dog Best in Show at the Global Pet Expo. Congrats!

If you’re not sure if you can adopt a pet full-time, you might want to consider fostering a pet. Back in July, Dogsized did an interview with Sarah Oren Brasky, CEO of Foster Dogs Incorporated and editor of fosterdogsnyc.com to answer many of your frequently asked questions.

If you’re ready to take the plunge, consider adopting a pet from PAWS – Pet Animal Welfare Society one of our fellow Dogsized fans. You can read about them in one of our prior posts on PAWS or check out their website: www.pawsct.org

Meet PAWS – Pet Animal Welfare Society

paws - scoobyWe wanted to introduce you to one of our fellow Dogsized fans: PAWS – Pet Animal Welfare Society. They are a network of volunteers who provide shelter, medical care and affection while finding loving homes for homeless and abused dogs (and cats).

PAWS has been in operation since 1962. They have rescued & re-homed approximately 115 dogs and 435 cats annually. Many of the dogs faced euthanasia at local pounds and most of the cats that they help are strays and abandoned cats that roam the local streets. A portion of the pets that come to PAWS have been relinquished by their owners who are no longer able to care for them.

PAWS - tessThey have so many cute pets and we’ve only posted 2 photos of the dogs currently available. Please check out their website for their full assortment of available pets. PAWS is located in Norwalk, Connecticut. If you live in NYC – it’s super easy to get to Norwalk via the train from Grand Central Station. If you or a friend is interested in one of these cute pets, please contact PAWS and they would be happy to help!
