EzyDog – Award Winning Active Dog Products

EzyDog Cujo

The Cujo Leash

We fell in love with EzyDog when we saw their leashes. From just looking at their products, you can see that they build their dog products based on sports technology!

We also love that they incorporated zero shock technology into their leashes as we’ve all experienced that horrible jerk at the spotting of a squirrel. EzyDog also has come up with some other great leash variations from the coupler (2 dogs on one leash) to the multi-function vario.
We got the opportunity to interview EzyDog to get more of an inside look of their company and inspirations:

Tell us about EzyDog and how the company got started.

Brothers, Phil and Luke Hatcher, from Australia originally started out in the water sports industry. At the same time, John Hatcher (not related) was working for a major water-ski manufacturer in the USA. Sharing the same last name in the same small industry eventually got them introduced. Phil, Luke and John’s experience in this industry and love of dogs sparked the idea to combine the best of both worlds, which inspired the original shock absorbing leash – the Cujo.

EzyDog Neo Collar

They saw that materials from the water sports world work well for the dog market. For instance, neoprene is a very durable material that does not absorb oils so it does not get stinky like a typical nylon collar. The Cujo leash was the first product to be introduced to the pet industry and started what would eventually become EzyDog.

EzyDog officially began about 10 years ago and has developed into a highly technical, full line of dog products that focus on function, durability and unique designs. The focus has been to enhance the outdoor experience with our dogs.

Tell us more about the materials used to make EzyDog products?

We make our own webbing, which allows us to more closely monitor the consistency and quality. We end up with a webbing that is super soft and extremely strong and durable. We use materials such as Neoprene for padded comfort, easy to clean and absorbs less stink than traditional materials. We also use EVA to form to the dog’s body for truly a custom fit. These “outside the box materials” make a superior product.

Our Chest Plate and Quick Fit Harnesses along with our shock absorbing leashes are really popular. The combination of these with your pup can truly transform your walking/running experience. Our DFD (Doggy Floatation Device) and Summit Backpack continue to be popular as well. We attribute these items popularity with the ease of use and the problem solving features these items provide.

Some people might assume your products are only for large &/or tough dogs ?

While our active look may appear to cater to the medium and larger breeds, we actually make products for all shapes and sizes of dogs. The Sparky, as well as, our Lite range of leashes, use clips and webbing widths more appropriate for the smaller dogs.

EzyDog Vario Leash

We do offer our Soft Trainer Leash, Vario 4 and Vario 6 leashes, as well as, couplers available in the Lite versions. The Ultimate Toy for Dogs that Love to Play Fetch

Does your dog love to play fetch? Do you sometimes wish he would just play fetch by himself? Well someone has come up with a solution for that! This brilliant invention called the iFetch allows your dog to play fetch with himself.

Your dog drops the ball into the large blue funnel on one side and the ball shoots out on the other.  It’s an on-demand ball launcher! Check out this quick video to see how it works:

Of course you’ll probably need to train your dog to use the iFetch (unless your dog is an Einstein-dog). They recommend you train your dog with the iFetch at most three times a day and only for ten minutes at a time. It’s recommended that your dog is supervised while they’re playing with the toy. If your dog is a heavy slobberer the iFetch may require wiping off balls from time to time.

Just Drop the Ball In!

How is the iFetch powered? All you need to do is plug it in (or insert 6 c-cell batteries), press the button on the back, drop in the special ball, and it’s playtime. Unfortunately it’s not created to use with full sized tennis balls. iFetch is designed to work with iFetch balls which are 1 ½” diameter.

iFetch was created by the Hamill Family from Austin, Texas. Their toy poodle, Prancer, kept begging them to play fetch. As we all know, sometimes you just don’t have time to play fetch. The patriarch, grandfather Denny, figured they could develop something that could throw the ball for Prancer and would be a fun family project.

After several months and hundreds of hours of prototyping, testing, and refining, they launched a Kickstarter campaign. Within 30 days, they had more than 1,000 backers and they received $88,000 in funding – more than four times the original goal. Clearly there were a lot of other dog families that could really use an on-demand ball launcher too!

The iFetch is now available for any dog family (click to purchase). Your dog will have endless fun with their new toy!

The Dog Treadmill – when it’s too cold/wet to go outside

In case it’s very cold and wet outside or you are not feeling well, a dog treadmill might be the right gift for both you and your dog. Of course, taking your dog out for a walk (or run) is the most ideal thing to do at least once a day, there might be circumstances when you can’t fit it in your schedule.

A dog treadmill can give a dog a great workout and ensure your dog maintains a consistent exercise regimen. Dog treadmills have been shown to provide increased muscle definition, toning, improve vitality, increase life span and help curb destructive behavior or excess energy often associated with the lack of regular exercise.

GoPro Fetch – Seeing from a Dog’s Point of View

GoPro FetchWe’ve seen a number of very cool videos capturing the world from a dog’s point of view and we wondered how did those owners mount the cameras on their dogs?

Well we’ve come across a product which will let you affix a camera to your dog. With the GoPro Fetch you can mount it to capture the world from your dog’s point of view.

The harness features two mounting locations for a variety of perspectives: the chest (for bone-chewing, digging and front-paw action) and your dog’s back (for over-the-head shots of running, jumping and play). Quick release bases make attaching and removing the camera easy.

GoPro Fetch Harness

The GoPro Fetch harness is made of washable, water-friendly material so your dog can swim, play and get dirty without a worry. The soft, padded construction, including at all adjustment points, keeps your dog comfortable.

Fully adjustable to fit small, medium and large breed dogs from 15 to 120 lbs (7 to 54 kg). If desired, the chest mount is removable to accommodate smaller dogs.

This video does a great job of explaining the product:
